Create exposure film with an inkjet printer

The best way to print the finished graphic template with high opacity and sharpness is to use an inkjet photo printer in combination with our MICRONOM PRO exposure films. Inkjet printers, which have good photo printing properties, are particularly well suited here.

If you want to work professionally but don't yet have your own printer, we can recommend a photo printer from EPSON as a purchase recommendation. These are not only available for standard formats such as A4 or A3, but also for oversized A3+ films. For example, the EPSON Expression Photo HD XP-15000 is a popular choice. The PIXMA TS9550 from Canon is also well suited.

We strongly advise to operate the inkjet printer with original ink or a very high-quality refill ink. This ensures that deep black results are achieved. If you use cheap, weakly pigmented refill inks, you have to accept losses in opacity.

In order to be able to print the specially coated MICRONOM PRO exposure films in a rich and opaque manner, the right ink and the setting of the print options are a prerequisite.

Since every printer has different menu settings, we can only give general tips for the perfect film template. Basically, when configuring the menu, you should aim for the printer to apply as much ink as possible to the film. To do this, the maximum print quality or photo print quality should be selected in the menu and the quick print function should be deactivated in any case. When selecting the type of paper, it has proven itself in practice to choose premium photo paper. These premium papers are often listed under the terms "semiglossy" or "glossy". Unfortunately, the "Foil printing" option does not always lead to the best results in practice.

When creating the films, you have to be aware that the later screen template can only ever be as good as the film template gives it. We therefore recommend checking the edge sharpness and, above all, the opacity of the film. The film can be held up to the light or checked with a magnifying glass. It should be kept in mind that the purpose of the film is to block the UV light during the exposure process.

If only a simple inkjet office printer is available for home use, it may be that satisfactory black coverage is not achieved despite original ink, high-quality exposure film and optimized printer settings. In this case, the template should be printed out twice as an alternative. The two films are mounted congruently on top of each other with transparent adhesive tape, thus increasing the opacity. If the desired motif is a graphic without super-fine lines, this makeshift solution is quite practical.

Since 2008, EY Betters has been manufacturing and exporting high-quality screen mesh.
